Well then you’d be wrong, because this i s Kirkland, WA.
Here’s the view from the master bathroom:
I can’t emphasize how close and loud this home is. And still for well over 1 million clams. WOOOOO!

Wait as the least noise-sensitive person in the universe I actually sort of dig it

That’s a really n ice area, but the traffic is absolutely brutal during rush hour (rush four hours..?). There's no sneaky back road way to get anywhere. You're just stuck....

I see no problem, neighbors won’t complain when wrenching and/or revving the engine at ungodly times of the night.
and the end of that cul de sac is asking to be filled with a collection of beaters.

Sound walls often make the noise worse because they reflect the sound up and then it goes further.

Not a cul-de-sac, there’s a private road to the left . That's just a weird gravel loopie loop.

Yes, I bet the wait on 116th AVE at 7am is about an hour.

It’s not like those sound barriers are especially effective anyway. Even close to the wall, they only reduce the noise by like 5dB, and as you get farther away, it becomes easier for sound coming over the wall to reach you so they become even less effective. They can even make things worse if the reflect the sound to the wrong place (they largely reflect sound rather than absorb it).
They are mostly an expensive to signal that you care about the people next to the highway and so are doing something to help them, even if the effect is minuscule.

Morning is bad, but 4-7pm is where you’ll be cursing your existence if you need to get through any of the main bridal trials roads. It would take an 50 minutes to go two miles last year, and it’s only gotten worse. Best bet might be to buy a motorcycle and sneak over the pedestrian bridge to get to totem lake, and found a better route from there.

I lived in a similar situation for nearly 2 years, my wife and I had to wear ear plugs to sleep at night. Stop n go traffic is fine, its the big semi-haulers at night that really mix the sound pattern up.
Location was great for both commutes, rent price was right - no way I would own.

I wonder how it feels when a really heavy truck goes by and you can just feel the entire house vibrating. Better hope those windows are quite thick. I dont mind some noise from the streets at night but that would just be insane.

The traffic I could get used to. The randos wandering around my house and the scary ass dead end? Not so much.

And a constant stream of strangers walking past your house all the time. And exhaust fumes. LOLNOPE

For the price, one would assume they installed significant quantities of sound attenuation materials and would design the home so that the areas which would be less impacted by noise are oriented toward the freeway and areas requiring a significant reduction in noise would be located away from the freeway.

Mmmmm mcmodern. And for not much more you could get an existing house in Bridle Trails on an actually nice lot (but less trendy/cliched architecture).
Nice, I think I know exactly where this is. Easy trip to Costco or the “transfer station” anyway.

Our old house (that we couldn’t sell in 2011) has the interstate about this close, but in the backyard behind some trees. It’s white noise inside, but crazy loud out back. The worst part is that even though it’s just 6 lanes, it’s on the side of a mountain with a mile-long grade (about 5%-10%) so the Jake brakes at 2am are what will get you.
Rush hour was great because nobody was moving fast.
In this case, I’d be more sketched about the transient people coming across the sidewalk (I’m not homeless-shaming here, I just mean it’s an easy escape route for opportunistic criminals).
But I bet it’s all pretty convenient.

I used to walk the bridge to high school every day until I got my license.
Edit: is that Houghton or Kingsgate?

It’s where 60th intersects with 116th Ave... East of 405
